Premier League Kicks Update

Our Premier League Kicks Coordinator recently attended the National Premier League Kicks conference at Wyboston Lakes, Bedford. 68 other professional football clubs were in attendance, for the 2-day event which kicked off with a networking evening dinner + a guest speaker John McAvoy, with an inspiring talk of how he turned his life from career criminal to professional athlete – a powerful journey that was delivered excellently from John and was an ongoing talking point over the 2 days amongst delegates.

Day 2 was all about the day to day Kicks programme coordination and delivery with many clubs sharing their experiences, stories and methods of best practice. A fascinating insight into the impact the Kicks programme is having nationwide within communities.

As part of the 10-year anniversary celebrations, each of the professional clubs running PL Kicks sessions has been asked to nominate a “PL Kicks Hero” - someone who has taken part in, volunteered to help at or worked on the programme and who has inspired others through their dedication, work ethic and own personal development.

This individual's story will then be immortalised in a comic illustration designed by Marvel and DC Comics artist John McCrea. The PL Kicks Hero initiative is something the Foundation will be supporting. Keep an eye out within our Match Day notes as to who we have nominated for our PL Kicks Hero……

Kicks Sessions are currently being delivered at the following locations and times:

  • Marriott’s School 3G Astro, Friday. (8-14’s) 6-7pm and (14+) 7-9pm - Football

For every home game, the Foundation and Stevenage FC offer matchday and mascot packages for children aged 5-12.

Matchday packages can include a one-hour coaching session at The Academy with Foundation coaches, followed by the chance to take a penalty on the hallowed Lamex turf, tickets in the West Stand to watch the match and a complimentary packed lunch for all children that attend.

These packages start at £15 per child and all bookings require a minimum of 10 children and maximum of 20 children per package.

Being a mascot is a great way to experience a VIP day at The Lamex. The mascot will get a unique look behind the scenes and meet all their heroes in the dressing room as well as warming up on the pitch before the game. Mascot packages are available for home and away games and include a packed lunch, complimentary tickets for the mascot and one adult with the option to purchase additional tickets for other family members and a Stevenage FC Foundation goodie bag.

To cap it all off, the mascot will walk out with the players at the beginning of the game and take part in the pre-match fair play handshake.

Mascot packages are available for all league home games for the 2017/18 season and are just £100!
