Primary Stars Proving A Big Success

In September 2016, SFC Foundation were awarded a grant from the Premier League to deliver their Primary Stars programme into local schools with the aim of supporting teachers to deliver sports themed lessons that also develop other areas such as numeracy, literacy, as well as personal, social and health education.

Over the past four months, the Foundation has delivered in 11 local schools. These sessions are delivered for half of the school year at no cost to the school with the aim of encouraging children to lead a healthy and active lifestyle as well as the support it provides to teachers.

“The course helped the children identify the importance of effective leadership and what that entails. They are starting to realise how to work effectively as a team and how leadership can help to achieve this.”

James Downie, Roebuck School

“As well as the sporting skills, there is a good focus on social and personal skills. The children are encouraged to listen carefully, to encourage and support each other and concentrate.”

Sam McCabe, Studlands Rise School

“These sessions contributed towards the children’s social and moral development. The children look forward to the SFC Foundation sessions, and the coaches have built good relationships with both children and staff.”

Victoria Willers, Jenyns First School
