SFCF Make biz4Biz Finalists

Stevenage FC Foundation are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted as a finalist for the Hertfordshire biz4Biz Award in the Best Corporate Social Responsibility Category. 

The awards are an independent awards process, which aims to highlight organisations in Hertfordshire that are seen as an example of best practice. 

The Best Corporate Social Responsibility category that has the following criteria “This award is for a business in the community that contributes to sustainable development by delivering economic, social and environmental benefits. This award is open to supporting charities, not for profit, staff provision, social and environmental concerns, engagement with the local community, volunteer work, supporting schools and colleges”.

After finishing top of the public vote and taking part in a judging day at Needham House Hotel, the Foundation have now made the shortlist of finalists, with the winners being announced at the awards ceremony on Friday 2nd March. 

The prestigious awards night will take place at Tewin Bury Farm in Welwyn Garden City and will be hosted by popular Broadcaster and Television personality, Eamon Holmes OBE. 

On receiving news of making the finalist shortlist, Head of Foundation, Joe Goude said:

We're absolutely thrilled to have been selected as one of the finalist in the biz4Biz Awards. It has been a great process to be involved in and we've make some truly remarkable organisations along the way. 

The staff that were involved in the presentation to the judges last month really highlighted how far we've come as a charitable organisation in recent years and we look forward to having the privilege of sharing the night with our fellow finalists.

Women Over 25 Encouraged To Get Back In The Game

Brand-new BACK IN THE GAME session is for women who are no longer involved in football, or would like to start playing but in a more relaxed and fun setting. 

Taking place at Gosling Sports Park in Welwyn Garden City every Thursday, 8-9pm. The session will consist of a light warm up followed by some small sided matches whereby players can still get the buzz of being competitive but in a friendly atmosphere.

We’re Looking For New Trustees

We take the governance of the charity seriously and are fortunate in to have support from our Board of Trustees who, in their roles, perform a number of duties including:

  • defining the long-term direction of the charity, including its objectives or purpose
  • implementing policies and activities to achieve objectives
  • complying with legal requirements
  • accountability to those with an interest or 'stake' in the charity

We are looking to expand the number of voluntary trustees on our Board and would welcome applications from local professionals with specialist experience in one or more of the following disciplines:

  • Safeguarding young/vulnerable people, particularly in an education, sporting or youth engagement environment
  • Data Protection & Security
  • Quality Improvement, Assurance & Assessment
  • Marketing & Public Relations

Applications are particularly welcome from women and people from non-white ethnic backgrounds, who are currently under-represented on the Board.
